Xiaomi Corporation CEO Lei Jun revealed on the Chinese social network Weibo that the SU7 electric car will be priced at up to 500,000 yuan (approximately $69,300) in China. CNBC quoted Jun stating, “Xiaomi’s SU7 aims to be the best-looking, best-driven, and smartest sedan priced up to 500k yuan.” This marks the first instance where Xiaomi has disclosed the upper limit of its price range, as highlighted by the publication.

Xiaomi will commence accepting orders for the SU7 on March 28. The electric car will be marketed in 29 cities throughout China and offered for test drives. Xiaomi unveiled the SU7 at the end of 2023. Previously, the company had not revealed the cost of the electric car. Analysts at Bloomberg Intelligence projected that the average price of the SU7 could range between 220,000 and 260,000 yuan (approximately $30,700 to $36,200).

Lei Jun asserted that the SU7 aims to compete with electric cars like the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan Turbo, which are priced starting at 698,900 yuan (about $97,500) and 898,000 yuan (about $125,000) respectively in China.

Following the official announcement, it was disclosed that the Xiaomi SU7 will be available in two versions: the SU7 and SU7 Max. The base model, SU7, features a rear-wheel drive configuration and is powered by Xiaomi’s proprietary V6 engine, delivering a maximum output of 220 kW and 400 Nm of torque. This variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds. The SU7 comes equipped with a 73.6 kWh Qilin battery sourced from CATL, offering a range of 668 kilometers.

The all-wheel-drive version, SU7 Max, is outfitted with a 101 kWh Qilin battery from CATL, offering a maximum range of 800 kilometers. With a power output of 475 kW, the all-wheel-drive vehicle enables the Xiaomi SU7 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and boasts a top speed of 265 km/h.
