Apple has unveiled a new advertisement for its iPhone 15 smartphone, highlighting the ample 128GB of initial storage as “a lot of storage.” The company emphasizes that its latest models offer “lots of storage for lots of photos.”
Apple increased the initial storage capacity from 64GB to 128GB in the iPhone 13 two and a half years ago. Before that, the memory boost occurred in the iPhone X in 2018. Apple appears to follow a three-year cycle of enhancing storage in its smartphones, with the current cycle likely nearing its conclusion. However, this hasn’t deterred the company from promoting the 128GB capacity.
The iPhone 15 advertisement, “Don’t Let Me Go,” features a man who is faced with the dilemma of deleting some of his photos due to storage constraints. To his surprise, the images come to life and start singing “Don’t Let Me Go.” The ad concludes with Apple emphasizing the iPhone 15’s capacity for storing” lots of photos.”
However, modern applications are increasingly demanding more storage space. The average user can easily occupy half of the 128GB capacity with apps alone, leaving limited space for photos and videos. To address this issue, Apple offers the iCloud storage service, which provides only 5GB of storage for free, requiring users to purchase additional storage if needed. Apple Insider suggests that such an advertisement would have been more appropriate after the release of the next iPhone with increased storage if it was released at all.
