Eddie Murphy will host the 84th Academy Awards Telecast in 2012 solo.
It’s official reported that Eddie Murphy will host the 84th Annual Academy Awards next year. The last comic to host the show alone was Jon Stewart in 2008. This is Murphy’s first time hosting the Academy Awards. He’s got years of experience in live TV. Eddie said in a statement that he’s “enormously honored” to join the ranks of Oscar hosts such as Billy Crystal, Steve Martin and Whoopi Goldberg. He was nominated in Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of soul singer James “Thunder” Early in Dreamgirls. The 84th Academy Awards ceremony will honor the best films of 2011 and will take place on February 26, 2012, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.
