The final installment of “The Twilight Saga” hits theaters Friday.
The New York Times gave “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” which reunites stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, one of the most shockingly good reviews, praising the aesthetic of director Bill Condon, the performance of actor Robert Pattinson and the “smooth” ending of the series.
Fans flocked to theaters late at night for the final big screen foray by Bella, Jacob and Edward. The couple’s family is threatened when the ancient vampire council, the Volturi, finds out about their child, which is half-human, half-vampire.
With Friday’s release of the final film in the franchise, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” the young actors bid farewell to the worldwide fantasy sensation, but not to the tabloid attention they garner wherever they go.
The first four “Twilight” movies earned $2.5 billion at theaters worldwide, propelled by passionate fans of a book series about a vampire-and-werewolf teen love triangle. Box office watchers project “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” will haul in $150 million at U.S. and Canadian theaters this weekend, one of the year’s biggest film debuts.
The film has an average rating of a measly 54 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, however that counts as a high-water mark for the series.
