UANL Tigres are the champions of Mexico’s Apertura 2011 championship.
Tigres UANL won their third Mexican League title, and first in 29 years, when they beat Santos Laguna 3-1 in the second leg of the Apertura final in Monterrey on Sunday. Chilean Hector Mancilla, Brazilian Danilinho and Alan Pulido scored for Tigres, which won their third title and their first for 29 years. Santos were down to 10 men from the 13th minute after goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez was sent off for bringing down Brazilian forward Danilinho. Tigres ended the game with 10 men. It was a deserved victory for a dominant Tigres side who conceded just three goals in their last ten games of the season.
