Taylor Swift is big winner at the 2011 American Music Awards.
The AMA awards is among the most widely watched of the annual US musical honours at the end of each year. Country pop singer Taylor Swift won three trophies at the 39th annual American Music Awards Sunday night, including the coveted Artist Of The Year for the second time in her short career. 21-year-old Swift also won Best Female Country Artist for the fourth straight year and Best Country Album for “Speak Now.” British soul singer Adele, who was not present at the ceremony as she is recovering from vocal surgery, was named as the Favourite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favourite Pop/Rock Artist. Katy Perry collected a surprise award of achievement for becoming the first woman to score five number one singles from the same album “Teenage Dream”. Nicki Minaj took home her first award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. MAROON 5 won the favorite pop/rock band/duo/group category, their first AMA trophy. The Favorite country male artist was Blake Shelton, favorite soul/R&B male artist was Usher, favorite contemporary inspirational artist were Casting Crowns and favorite alternative rock artist were the Foo Fighters.
