Serena Williams beat Victoria Azarenka to win US Open women’s final.
Williams won the last four games for a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 victory over top-ranked Victoria Azarenka on Sunday night for her fourth championship at Flushing Meadows and 15th Grand Slam title overall. She became the firt women’s tennis player to cross $40 million in earnings. This year Williams has won the singles and women’s doubles at Wimbledon, won the singles and doubles gold medals at the Summer Olympics and now the United States Open tournament. She is the first woman in her 30s to win the U.S. Open since Navratilova in 1987.
