Michael Phelps earned his fifth gold medal at the Minneapolis Grand Prix on Sunday night.

The 14-time Olympic gold medalist won his fifth gold medal and topped the male points table on the final day of the Minneapolis Grand Prix, completing a perfect three days of competition. He won the 100-meter butterfly and the 200-meter freestyle Friday. Olympic superstar followed up with two wins Saturday in the 200-meter butterfly and the 100-backstroke, in which he barely edged out former Gophers swimmer David Plummer. The Minnesota Grand Prix is the first of seven stops this season on USA Swimming’s Grand Prix series. The top swimmer in the Grand Prix series will receive $20,000, to be awarded at the final event in June in Santa Clara, Calif.
