Lenovo Group Ltd. was named the world’s No.2 personal computer maker.
Hong Kong’s computer and electronic device maker Lenovo has replaced Dell to become the world’s second largest personal computer company. It serves customers in more than 160 countries and regions. Chief Executive Yang Yuanqing said the Chinese company will keep pursuing acquisitions to boost growth. The new achievement positioned Lenovo as a strong challenger to ultimately become the global market leader, he said in the statement. Gartner Inc. and International Data Corp, both are research firms, found that global PC shipments rose more slowly than expected in the third quarter. Major PC makers such as Hewlett-Packard and Dell have warned that consumer spending appeared to be slipping. The world’s top PC maker status currently held by Hewlett-Packard Co.’s PC business.
