The readers of People Magazine have named Channing Tatum Sexiest Man Alive.
Channing Tatum said he couldn’t believe the news. “My first thought was, ‘Y’all are messing with me,” Tatum told the magazine after hearing the news. The Alabama-born actor has most recently been seen in such critically acclaimed roles as a male stripper in “Magic Mike” and an undercover cop in “21 Jump Street.”
The 32-year-old actor, who is married to actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum, is training to play an Olympic athlete in his upcoming film, “Foxcatcher.” Tatum’s movie credits include “Step Up,” “21 Jump Street,” “The Vow” and “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.”
Tatum, who married actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum in 2009, says in a People interview that he and Jenna are ready to start a family and to have children. Jenna describes him as “such an open-hearted person” and says that “people know him to be fun and sexy, but they don’t know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is.”
Other actors who have received the “sexiest” label include George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and Ryan Reynolds. Last year’s “sexiest man” was Bradley Cooper.
Tatum graces the cover of this week’s People, which hits newsstands on Friday.
