Gabriela Isler from Venezuela was crowned Miss Universe 2013 on Saturday.
For the first time the annual Miss Universe beauty contest was held this year in Russia. The girls from more than 80 countries from every corner of the world showed off their best beauty, evening, and swimsuit looks at Crocus City Hall in Moscow. The top five contestants of the pageant were from Ecuador, Brazil, Spain, Philippines and Venezuela.
The flamenco dancer from Venezuela won the big crown, marking the seventh contest win for the South American country. She was in a specially created jeweled swimsuit that the organizers said was worth $1 million. The first runner-up was Patricia Yurena Rodrigues of Spain and the second runner-up was Constanza Baez from Ecuador .
Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo of the United States relinquished the Miss Universe crown and placed it upon Miss Venezuela. The 25-year-old beauty who was born in Maracay and works on Venezuela’s Venevision television. Over the next 12 months, she will travel the world, representing the Miss Universe Organization and a charity of her choice.
The committee of judges was led by American rock musician Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, who had incredible performances through the show.
The show was watched by several billion viewers around the world.
