The team was known as Madrid Football Club until 1920 when King Alfonso XIII granted the title of Real (Royal) to the club.

The best players on the planet like Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenec Puskas, Emilio Butragueño, Raul Gonzalez Blanco, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, and current star Cristiano Ronaldo have shined for Madrid.
