Christian Dior in talks with Raf Simons to replace John Galliano.
Since Galliano’s departure, following a racist and antisemitic outburst in a Paris bar, the Dior team, under long-term Galliano collaborator Bill Gaytten, has been left to oversee the label’s fortunes with varying degrees of success. Now the French fashion house has been looking for a new creative director. Today Belgian-born talent Raf Simons became the frontrunner to replace disgraced designer John Galliano. Raf is currently chief couturier at Jil Sander. He started his men’s wear label in Antwerp around 1995, and included a few examples of women’s fashion in some of his early collections. But essentially he was new to the women’s side when Patrizio Bertelli, then the owner of Jil Sander, hired him.
