Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni celebrate birth of their baby daughter.
President and first lady of France celebrate birth of their first child together in the La Muette maternity clinic in central Paris. The former supermodel, who has a son Aurelien, 10, from a previous relationship, is the first serving First Lady of France to have a baby. The president has two sons, 26-year-old Pierre and 25-year-old Jean, from his first marriage, and a third son, Louis, 14, from his second. The Elysee Palace said there would be “no comment” about the birth, with Ms Bruni-Sarkozy and the President viewing it as a “private matter”. Police and security agents surrounded the Muette Clinic, which is close to the new mum’s townhouse.
