Adele has been crowned the queen of iTunes for 2011.
British singer Adele became the first artist to secure three milestones on the iTunes music chart, scoring 2011’s top-selling single, top-selling album and being named the iTunes Artist of the Year. Adele’s “21” is the year’s top-selling album with 4.8 million copies sold. Her No.1 hit “Rolling in the Deep” was the best-selling song. The 23-year-old British singer had said she was left “lost for words” after being nominated for six Grammy awards last week. Folk act Mumford & Sons’ have come in second among the best-selling albums with Sigh No More, while the deluxe edition of Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV is third. The iTunes Rewind list highlights the year’s most downloaded items from Apple Inc’s iTunes stores but the company did not give sales figures.
