The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be released on 13 December 2013.
The second installment of a three-part film series based on Tolkien’s novel “The Hobbit” begins with “An Unexpected Journey” (2012) and set to conclude with “There and Back Again” (2014).
After successfully crossing over the Misty Mountains, hobbit Bilbo Baggins along with the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield and his twelve companions are forced to seek help from a mighty stranger before going on the dangerous forest of Mirkwood without wizard. Their company is required to complete their journey to the Lonely Mountain, where Baggins will need to find a secret door to get to the treasure of the dragon Smaug. The magic ring that Bilbo has found in Gollum’s cave will save him from the dragon.
