Korean electronics maker Samsung may pull out of the netbook market in 2012.
A French blog Blogeee is reporting that Samsung will phase out its netbook line-up in 2012. Korean electronics maker Samsung has been producing high quality netbooks since 2008. The market is also much more saturated today than it was in 2008, with dozens, if not hundreds of netbook models available for purchase. The email, sent to the company’s trade partner, reads: “Following the introduction of our new strategy in Q1 2012, we stop the product range in 10.1″ (Netbook) in Q1 2012 for the benefit of Ultraportables products (11.6 and 12-inches) and ultrabooks to be launched in 2012.” However, this does not mean Samsung will no longer offer affordable ultraportables and it will probably continue to market 11.6-inchers based on next generation Cedar Trail Atoms. Now firms such as Samsung are looking to new products, such as tablet PCs.
