Apple OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is released to developers and scheduled for public availability this summer.
Mountain Lion will include Game Centre, an iPhone app which stores high game scores and helps users find opponents. It will be integrated with iCloud, the new internet storage service designed for the mobile devices. One of the most intriguing announced feature is AirPlay mirroring, which will let you stream what’s on a Mac to an HDTV with any device that uses the AirPlay technology. Apple’s talking up Apple TV, but other devices also can use AirPlay, such as D-Link’s Boxee Box. The new Messages app, also copied from the mobile operating system, will replace iChat. There’s no indication yet what Mountain Lion will cost when it’s released this summer, but recent OS X upgrades have cost $29.
