Oktoberfest 2011 in Munich began on Saturday.
The Oktoberfest is a worldwide known event and takes place every year between the end of September and the beginning of October in Munich, Germany. This Beerfest begins on September 17 and will end on October 3. The parade starts from Sonnenstr. and ends at the Theresienwiese. Every year, over 6 million visitors from all over the world come to Munich to drink beer, eat sausage and join together in song.One of the most amazing things about Oktoberfest is how smoothly everything works, despite enormous crowds and massive alcohol consumption. About 1.9 million gallons of beer is being served in a typical year. There are also souvenirs tents and little kiosks selling sandwiches, beer, würstel and the famous Pretzel, a salty kind of bread typical of the Bavarian region.
